Taking advantage of machines and digital technologies, requires that our complex reality needs to be simplified and reduced into data. For example, if we want to know how much money we have left in our wallets after a given purchase, we could use a calculator and input two data points, how much money we have and the cost of the purchase. To get the answer to our question, the complex reality of our lives needs to be reduced and translated to a machine-readable language.
Like the calculator, new tools require data, but the format and structure are critical to fully utilize them.
