Nutritional epidemiology examines food intake in relation to health status for the general public. Currently scientists evaluate food intake with questionnaires or food diaries. However, there are disadvantages on the use of these tools, mainly due to their subjectivity. To overcome these disadvantages, we came up with other objective approaches, which also have weak and strong points. The presented alternative uses the so-called food intake biomarkers(BFIs) and it can be used not only in combination with existing tools but also to provide information on the fate of these BFIs in our bodies.
